PwC’s social responsibility project, HELM – PwC Economy of the Sea Barometer (World), systematises, in summarised form, quantitative information on various industries of the sea, enabling the identification of trends of ocean-related industries, and rankings, overlapped on a world map, to help identify the intensity of ocean use in every region of the world. With this exercise of building rankings of countries by industry it was possible to present in the previous chapter and in the document ‘Circumnavigation: HELM – PwC Economy of the Sea (World) – In depth’ the global synthesis of quantitative data. In this chapter we will address matters about the Economy of the Sea in the United Sates of America, in the world context, that were identified in this exercise.
